Ramandolo: a place and its wine

The kitchen works from 12,00 p.m. to 14,30 p.m. and from 19,00 p.m. to 21,30 p.m.

The world “Ramandolo” recalls one of the most beautiful and romantic views of the Western Hills of Friuli and the “Park of grape and wine”.
Sitting underneath the centennial horse chestnuts you can glance at the forests, the “garden-vineyards”, the castles and the churches on the plain until the Adriatic sea kisses the coast … It is not a case that the famous poet and writer Ippolito Nievo called this region “small summary of the universe”: in a very small area you can enjoy sea, mountains, plain, lakes and hills.
But the world “Ramandolo” recalls also one of the region’s most important wine. It has been well known since the dawn of time (before the coming of the Romans). It is mentioned in ancient documents describing noble banquets and it has been the first regional wine to be qualified as D.O.C.G. (Controlled and Guaranteed Origin Denomination).
The symbols of Ramandolo are the geometrically terraced vineyards and the 15th Century Chapel of Saint John the Baptist showing from the side of the hill.
Next to this Church, in 1880 the people of Ramandolo, nearly all winemakers, built a tavern (osteria) to promote their wine.
Many years have passed by, but, thanks to a constant and all-loving maintenance, the “Osteria di Ramandolo” remains an irreplaceable balcony on Friuli (“pujûl sul Friûl”).
It is the best location for a relaxing breakfast, a romantic dinner, a hangout with friends but especially a wonderful stage for your wedding party and for your family’s most important events.
Who are we?
We are Pietro e Ilenia and, surprise, we got married here!
We can tell you that we have always had a passion for good food and good wines and are glad of having turned it into a job (we are a chef and a sommelier).
After years of experience in various places around Italy and a brilliant management of a restaurant / wine bar in Udine, we are enthusiastic to take care of a place that we feel so particularly bounded to.
Our cooking is seasonal, frank and tasty and includes both meat and fish: remember that in this “small summary of the universe” we are as close to the mountains as much as to the sea.
The wine cellar is of course rich of local and native wines, first of all the fine Ramandolo, but boasts a good number of other Italian and French wines, grappas, rum, brandies, whiskey, liquors and much more …. Come and visit us!
